a prequel

the dress code of low probability
opposes coverage and risk. so few of us
resist what all too few of us
decide. there are too many motions

and a surfeit of young breezes
to uphold what we have inadvertently
assumed hold of as via obligation
through the generations. behold,

says scripture. everyone looks
outward, and a few look in. meanwhile,
what is there to regard?
a helpmeet might defray the cost

of venturing, and baubles of inhesitancy
fail to crack even a small window.
fate beneath dark lashes shows through
painted lashes perpetually uncounted.
